Royal Street 1890 Lithograph print by famed New Orleans native Al Federico and signed with graphite pencil. The print shows a detailed New Orleans street scene as a historic imagining with characters dressed in a late Victorian era attire and streets lined with iron balconies and a horse drawn carriage. A beautiful and nostalgic piece capturing bygone times. The archival frame has preserved the print very well as there are no signs of fading and this piece has spent the last decade in a climate controlled closet, safely tucked away in preservation. I did not want to remove the matting to locate the print's number. The pencil signature always impressed me enough.
The frame is in wonderful shape with ornate figuring and gold tone adding a classy traditional touch. The matting is a decorative triple matting with a cleverly executed reveal for the title at the bottom. I used a combination of varying gold mica powders in a matte waterborne acrylic to touch up a small handful of impressions. None were bigger than a pencil's eraser and all are hard to spot without some scrutiny. Nothing draws the eye for typical viewing.
