Louisiana artist R. C. Davis (Richard “Chris” Davis) is a regional painter from Amite, LA, known for colorful, nostalgic scenes of rural life, small towns, and the Louisiana marshes. His work draws on his childhood experiences with local farms, bayous, and coastal trips, giving his paintings a warm “old Louisiana” feel that appeals to collectors of Southern and folk‑style art and is perfect for this beautiful St Charles trolley car painting originally signed and dated 2005. The 20 yrs that have passed since he painted it are but a blink of the eye for the historic area the painting captures. The title I narrowed on is Misty Morn on St Charles. I tried to find the name of the Gothic church in the background, but there are many in the area and didn't figure it out. It appears to be numbered 1366 out of 1400 and signed with a white/silver ink.
The print is professionally framed and double matted with no signs of fading or damage to the print. The matting is cleverly executed with a stepped reveal for the top layer. The figured gold tone frame is elegant and exudes regal appeal, but there were a couple of trouble spots that were mended with a closely matching gold tone mica powder mixture in a matte clear acrylic that thoughtfully present without distracting too much.
Print is 18 in H x 31 in W, frame is 41 in W x 29 in H. Located in Ascension parish but frequent Baton Rouge often.
