As seen in the pictures, this heavy old buggy or wagon axle was part of the Neville Plantation operations in the 19th Century. The plantation was devoted to agriculture, but also had blacksmithing, brick-making, dairy and other similar operations in play.
The old plantation burned in 1927 and we own the old homesite area where many such similar items were recovered during our "hunts" for relics on this historic grounds. This old axle was found in the 1990's just under the surface and adjacent to an old wagon road which led to the agricultural fields and was displayed in a home on the Neville Plantation site since that time. All original with cool old accouterments once part of the axle assembly still in place. The axle is NO LIGHTWEIGHT. It is HEAVY.
MEASUREMENTS: As seen in the photos, the axle is around 69" long.
