This old plantation statement piece is a 7-foot tall, well-crafted mahogany bookcase-secretary desk with lovely carved accents, amazing details with a metal accented "barrel-rolltop" desk cover feature and hand carved capitals surrounding the top and 2 sides. The construction is very solid, the carving striking and the piece original. Crafted around 1870-80, it would be the top feature in any plantation decor room -- ESPECIALLY AT THIS PRICE.

The photos show that the piece is very attractive and the crafted carving is both eye-catching and distinctive. This is a unique and lovely plantation piece from "back in the day." The open rolltop reveals a warren of compartments and 2 drawers. There is a main drawer beneath that spanning the width of the piece and 2 smaller drawers below. There is also a lower cabinet with door and space. This is a splendid desk from a local plantation.
MEASUREMENTS and DETAILS: The pictures give an idea of the size but the desk is TALL - over 7', 36" wide and 22" deep.
